GSMA – The Role

The Business Analyst (BA) will hold a pivotal position in driving and supporting the planning and delivery of the GSMA’s event technology systems portfolio. The BA will be required to liaise with internal GSMA teams and its Internal Partners to extract new business requirements with their objectives and to translate these into technical requirements.

Essential to the role will be the ability to engage with the teams, creating and owning stakeholder relationships and to maintain and develop the requirements engagement process. Where necessary, the BA will identify improvement areas, with the aim of enhancing any business processes to assist in driving forward fit for purpose technology solutions.

Working alongside Event Technology Project Managers (PM) and reporting into the Snr PM, the BA will consult with the implementation team to optimise and enhance systems integration. They will then be required to present the final recommendation and cost analysis to obtain business approval

The role will support all our Congress events including Mobile World Congress Barcelona, Shanghai and Americas and also the Mobile 360 Events Series. There is a requirement for international/national travel and the ability to manage delivery of work and co-ordination with stakeholders based in multiple time-zones.

Key Responsibilities

  • Stakeholder management, building and owning working relationships in order to fully support project teams during analysis and planning stages
  • Performs feasibility analysis, scopes projects, and works with the ET Project Management team to prioritise deliverables
  • Provides analytic support by coordinating data extraction from various databases and data interpretation (includes XML feeds/API feeds)
  • Creates Business Requirement Documents and translate these into functional specifications. Design process map, workflows, use cases and creation of Data Flow Diagrams
  • Facilitating a successful release handover to implementation team,
  • Participates in Integration Testing, User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and Functionality Testing
  • Coordinate and schedule project meetings with internal / external stakeholders and vendors, diverse stakeholder management
  • Liaise with ET PMs for quotation and budget management, making sure projects stay within budget and target spending requirements
  • Working with internal compliance team towards achieving fully compliant e.g. GDPR, PCI, InfoSec
  • Researching possible software solutions to increase work efficiency

Criteria for selection

  • experience working as a Functional, Data or Business Analyst
  • Technical scope management of:
    • E-commerce/Registration Systems
    • Digital platforms (website/Mobile Apps/signage)
    • Payment Gateways
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • customer interfacing experience – project oversight, customer presentation
  • 2+ years of experience in Excel(Advanced), Visio, MS Project, and collaboration tools such as Asana, Confluence (Jira)
  • Knowledge of computer programming of C, C++, HTML, JavaScript & Flash is not essential but will prove beneficial for systems analysis within GSMA, as will, having an understanding of APIs and XML feed management
  • Awareness of ISO27001, OWASP 10 and Systems Security
  • International experience, having worked on large scale projects within a corporate, association and/or agency environment
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines, upholding excellent attention to detail with a Self-starter’ attitude to work, able to take initiative, problem solve and work autonomously to drive projects forward
  • Understanding of GDPR and InfoSec principles
  • Event Industry experience is preferable but not essential
