The Role

GSMA Intelligence is looking to hire a Senior Analyst as part of its research team. In research, GSMA Intelligence publishes around 40-50 reports per year across a range of topics. We also produce quantitative models and analysis on economics and econometrics. Reports include regional and country deep dive analyses (such as our Mobile Economy and Country Overview series), topic deep dives (such as in network coverage, smartphones and tablets, IoT, the mobile internet economy, and consumer behaviour), and future looking pieces focused on industry disruption. In quantitative analysis, we work with internal teams in the GSMA to produce in-depth, comprehensive tools that support external advocacy efforts with regulators and policy makers.

We are looking for an analyst to work across a range of projects commissioned by teams within the GSMA. Research reports would account for the majority of this, although there may also be an opportunity to participate in more quantitative-driven deliverables. The person would have at least 3-5 years experience, potentially coming from an analyst house, consultancy, financial services firm or an industry player. Professional experience in the telecoms sector would be desirable, particularly to have a solid understanding of market structure and key trends. Ideally, the person would also be familiar with the internet sector and its key players (Facebook, Google, Apple, Amazon, Uber etc). The role demands a considerable level of self-discipline and self-management. It also demands someone willing and able to excel in a team environment that is dynamic. Multi-lingual capability, particularly Spanish and/or French, is not required but highly desirable.

The GSMA encourages personal and professional development and this is an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to develop within the organisation and the wider telecommunications industry, and to help grow the GSMAi pipeline.

The main duties are as follows:

  • Undertake in-depth quantitative and qualitative research and analysis and develop insights into a wide range of global, regional and local mobile industry issues and themes
  • Take a supporting and potentially leadership role with projects, managing the process end to end. This includes coordinating scoping, analysis, drafting and publication (or internal submission if deliverable not being made public)
  • At each step, liaise with internal clients on report structure, deliverables and messaging
  • Contribute to and give presentations to senior management internally, at external events or closed meetings with external stakeholders
  • Actively engage with key members of the wider GSMA Intelligence team to drive synergies and collaboration
  • Support GSMA Intelligence’s vision to become the market intelligence powerhouse for the mobile industry
