The GSMA seeks a talented and energetic Director of Marketing (Contract - Maternity cover) to lead and deliver the marketing strategy, supporting its commercial Media business.

Media

Mobile World Live (www.mobileworldlive.com) is the GSMA’s online media operation. This is a fast growing arm of the GSMA responsible for editorial services including the Mobile World Live Daily e-newsletter, weekly e-newsletters focused on vertical markets - (Apps, Devices and Money), weekly regional newsletters (Asia, as well as local-language newsletters serving Chinese, French and Spanish readers) and the GSMA’s Mobile Congress Show Daily newspapers. In addition, the division produces Mobile World Live TV, the award-winning official broadcast service of Mobile World Congress.

Mobile World Live also features a strong portfolio of third party client sponsored products called Insights, which includes Webinars, Whitepapers, eBooks, Surveys and Survey Reports and Case Studies.

The ideal candidate for this role will have a deep understanding of the digital media market and experience in growing B2B publications. The role requires someone who is flexible, ideally with experience of working in global teams across different timezones. Whilst the majority of the work will be carried out at the GSMA's offices in London, travel will be required from time-to-time.

Duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Designing and managing an annual marketing strategy and full tactical plan to budget
  • Helping structure marketing partnerships with third parties
  • Developing internal and external communications
  • Strategic oversight of social media content development and some tactical implementation
  • Support production of Insight portfolio – client liason for all MWL Webinars and co-ordination between clients and design teams for Whitepapers, eBooks, Surveys, Survey Reports and Case Studies.
  • Defining appropriate measurements for marketing activities and events, tracking and analysing results, and recommending improvements to maximise impact.
  • Ensure best practise is being followed in regards to all marketing activity
  • Creation and management of all marketing literature and content – off and online
  • Strategic oversight and planning of all market research projects
  • Development of all sales collateral to support MWL global sales team
  • On-site Marketing support for Mobile World Live at GSMA events (at Mobile World Congress and potentially Mobile World Congress Shanghai and Mobile World Congress Americas)
  • People development and management – the role includes management of a Digital Marketing Manager based in London, UK.

Skills / Experience

  • Substantial marketing experience at a senior level in the digital media market
  • Proven success developing and implementing B2C and B2B marketing strategies and campaigns that deliver tangible impact, with comprehensive measures to determine success
  • Proven success managing international campaigns and tailoring requirements to different regions
  • Deep social media strategy understanding and proven success in the management of social media channels such as blogs, LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter
  • Deep SEO understanding and experience of growing - and maintaining – online traffic
  • A good understanding of Marketing Automation systems
  • A good understanding of Wordpress or other CMS systems
  • Proven analysis and research skills
  • Strong copywriting skills
  • Team management (including development and recruitment)
  • Senior stakeholder management exposure
  • Evidence of management of external suppliers, budgets and deliverables.
  • A proven track record of proposition development and the ability to influence and add value to your area of business
  • Experience leading a team
  • Collaborative in nature
  • Degree level qualification or equivalent in marketing, communications or a related field.
