The Role

This is an exciting role to manage the mNutrition (mAgri and mHealth) programme within Mobile for Development.

The role of mNutrition Project Manager is to support the mNutrition Head of Programme and M4D Programme Director in driving the project(s) to meet its objectives and ensuring success of all workstreams within the project(s), ensure effective and efficient communication and collaboration within the team, timely and effective internal and external reporting, including financial reports, contract management for contractors and consultants. The project manager role also includes managing the events and team logistics.

The mNutrition Project Manager will line-report to the M4D programme team whilst being matrixed in the mNutrition M4D programme.

Main responsibilities

Responsible for all stages of design and implementation of the designated project, including:

  • Leading the project planning for the project team to successfully deliver on programme commitments, including internal and external deliverables
  • Ensure the programme has in place and is following professionally correct project processes to support delivery. Ensure that the projects are delivered to time, quality and budget
  • Support individual team members by identifying projects’ priorities, risks, dependencies, opportunities and proactively searching for optimal mitigation strategy or a specific solution
  • Assist the contract manager(s) to ensure contractors budgets, timely delivery, quality and reporting is on track
  • Optimise and own shared tools, templates, trackers, contact databases, document repositories for effective team collaboration and knowledge sharing
  • Manage internal and external project reporting, both narrative and financial
  • Provide all aspects of robust financial management, including:
  • Raising purchase orders, contract approval forms, supplier management, receiving invoices etc
  • Monthly forecasting and reconciling of accounts
  • Managing staff travel budget and approving travel expenditure (flights and hotels)
  • Reconciling staff expenses against travel allocations and monthly travel report
  • Ensuring expenditure is compliant with donor requirements and within GSMA policy
  • Ensuring the correct transactions are posted to the correct donor budget
  • Ensuring the project provides value for money
  • Providing approval to spend within agreed boundaries
  • Identifying and managing financial risks and issues
  • Ensuring project is within agreed financial tolerance as per donor and GSMA policy
  • Managing the procurement and contracting process for staff and suppliers, including RFPs in conjunction with the Legal, Finance and Compliance departments
  • Events management for regular working groups and project participation in wider GSMA events: own logistics and operations, venue set-up, drive and own agenda, lead communication with speakers and attendees
  • Travel management: tracks flight database; resolves travel issues; collate staff travel plans for upcoming months and check against travel planner; reconcile with travel budget

Qualifications

  • MA, MSc or MBA in relevant discipline, e.g. social/international development, business etc
  • Valid PRINCE2 Foundation and Practitioner certificate

Criteria for selection – Functional and Experience

  • Several experience of managing complex multinational multifunctional projects producing social impact
  • Complete fluency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Project softwares
  • Background in social/international development
  • Experience of managing large project budgets (£1m+)
  • Experience of managing grant funded projects with a variety of donors
  • Experience of managing projects with geographically dispersed teams
  • Experience of managing grant funded projects in all lifecycle stages, including setting up processes and tools for delivery
  • High financial literacy
  • Record of managing and delivering international events
  • Proven ability to manage suppliers and contractors
